On 20th May, delegation of Shilin Global Geopark of Yunnan Province, the People’s Republic of China and Burren and Cliff of Moher Global Geopark of County Clare of Ireland, signed friendship geopark agreement in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province.
Both geoparks agreed to reached consensus in sharing experience of success, sharing marketing platforms, creating tourism brands, and setting up exchange mechanism.
After the signing ceremony, representatives of Burren and Cliff of Moher Global Geopark visited the Shilin Geopark Museum, the Major Stone Forest Scenic Area, the Minor Stone Forest Scenic Area. Two sides had an in-depth exchange and discussion on geopark building and management, scientific research, community involvement in geopark, etc.
The Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark in County Clare of Ireland and the Stone Forest Geopark in Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China are both members of the Global Geoparks Network. As the typical limestone landscapes, they are the historic sites and natural phenomena on the surface of the earth.
Networking between the two geoparks promoted the friendship between the Irish and Chinese peoples and deepened friendly exchange and cooperation in various fields, tourism industry in particular, between County Clare and Yunnan Province.
Both sides will work together to boost future exchange for closer friendship and fruitful cooperation.
