Following the “Seminar on Geoscience Popularization Capacity Construction” jointly held by the Management Office of Land and Resources Science Popularization Base and Hong Kong Global Geopark of China, the representatives of Hong Kong Global Geopark of China were invited to visit Yunnan Stone Forest World Geopark from April 25 to 26, 2015 to share and exchange the skills of science knowledge transfer.

The spokesman of Hong Kong Global Geopark said, “The visit is an encouraging extension of the Seminar on Geoscience Popularization Capacity Construction. With this opportunity, we will be able to extend the knowledge exchange and sharing platform to other geoparks of China and to further spread knowledge within the network of geoparks in China.”

During their visit to Stone Forest Geopark, the representatives of Hong Kong Global Geopark visited many geological scenic spots and tourist facilities, participated in sharing of related science popularization work and delivered a speech entitled Turn a Stone into Gold – Is It Possible? to promote the best execution method for capacity construction and geopark management.

The spokesman of Stone Forest Geopark Management Bureau indicated, “We are very excited about all the science popularization programs in the Asia Pacific Geoparks Network such as marking and explanation system, promotion materials and public education. For all the world geoparks, such sharing and exchange activities are critical for continuous improvement.”

There will be a series of extensions of cooperation following the exchange activities. It will play a leading role for the model of cooperation in science popularization between inland geoparks and the geoparks of Hong Kong.
