On September 16, the Release Conference for Appraisal Result of “China’s Most Beautiful Geoparks” and the Launching Ceremony of A Grand Tourism Earth Science Dictionary was held in Beijing. On the Release Conference, the Organization Committee announced the appraisal result. Thirty geoparks including Stone Forest National Geopark of Yunnan won the title of “China’s Most Beautiful Geoparks”.

The event was initiated by such organizations as Geological Society of China Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research Branch, the appraisal lasted for half a year, totally 104 geoparks were registered for appraisal and totally 37 million votes were received. The finally selected 30 geoparks were decided by 11 geopark experts including Academician Li Tingdong through registered voting based on the list of 60 candidate geoparks from voting of the public. 

Stone Forest Scenic Area was selected among “China’s Most Beautiful” National Geoparks, which greatly improved the popularity and public recognition of Stone Forest as a world geopark. It was of great significance for promoting the construction and management of geoparks.
