Recently, China Stone Forest Karst Geological Museum was officially named as the "national popular science education base" by the China Association for Science and Technology. The official award ceremony was held on November 9th. It was another card to the Stone Forest, marking the stone forest Karst geological science value recognized.
Mr. Tang Bing, from Yunnan Association for Science and Technology read the official notice by the China Association for Science and Technology. Wang Yue, from Kunming municipal Association for Science and Technology, made a brief introduction of China Stone Forest Karst Geological Museum. Related leaders and officials at different levels participated in the awarding ceremony.
China Stone Forest Karst Geological Museum was established by the Shilin Deli Geological Science and Technology limited Company in 2009. The Museum covers an area of 70 acres, with a total construction area of about 20000 square meters. One billion Yuan has been invested in the project. Much valuable collected knowledge, resources and heritage about geological science and evolution of earth history has been displayed. It is a good way to popularize scientific and technological knowledge to visitors and people.
The musuem was open to public during the Spring Festival of 2012. It offers preferential tickets to visitors on Spring Festival, Women's day, Children's day, Mid-Autumn Festival and National day. It has won warm welcome.
Winning the special title will further promote geological knowledge popularization. It will make greater contribution to popular science education.
It is reported a total of 397 units awarded the title in China, including 5 from Yunnan Province.
