On May 8th, Shilin scenic area was approved to be the 5A tourist attraction by the National Tourism Bureau, which is another national card after getting the first batch of national park of China, National Geopark, National Science and Education Base. Now, Shilin Scenic Area and Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area become 5A tourist attractions in Yunnan province.

5A tourist attraction is the highest grade of tourist attractions in China, and it is the highest standard of the quality of tourist attractions. The content of assessment includes the quality of service and environment, the quality of scenery and the tourists’ feedback. They constructed and upgraded in many sides of Shilin, including tourist communications, tourist safety, sanitation, tourist shopping and general management.

Shilin has been open to tourists since 1978. After nearly 40 years’ development, Shilin becomes a comprehensive scenic area with 3.5 million tourists each year. With the support from the National Tourism Bureau, Shilin county attached great importance to  the 5A tourist attraction declaring job, kept improving service quality, especially improved the level of the necessary facilities, such as parking lots, tourists center,  toilets and so on.

In the process of declaring, the leaders of the National Tourism Bureau and the provincial tourism bureau inspected Shilin for many times and guided the job, and finally Shilin joined the 5A tourist attraction successfully.
