Shilin UNESCO Global Geopark Officially Extended to 365.7 km2

The UNESCO Global Geoparks Council convened its seventh meeting over two sessions. The first session was organized in Thailand’s Satun UNESCO Global Geopark, as well as remotely, on 4 – 5 September 2022. The second session was held virtually on 7 – 9 December 2022.
Among the items on the agenda was the extension of Shilin UNESCO Global Geopark. The UNESCO Global Geoparks Council has decided to grant Shilin’s extension from 350km2 to 365.7km2.
After this area adjustment, more community, population and cultural resources are involved in the Geopark.
