The Shilin UGGp is more colorful and attractive in September. On the clear morning of September 15th, 2023, Shilin Geopark Administrative Bureau launched tress planting activities on the outskirt of the Shilin UGGp. More than 90 staffs participated in the activities to make our geopark greener and more beautiful. The theme of the activity is "Planting trees makes Shilin UGGp more beautiful". Staffs gathered outside the Shilin UGGp, digging holes, cultivating seedlings, filling holes softly and watering. Hundreds of cheery trees were planted to add color to the earth. Several years later, the pink cherry trees will be in full blossom and by then our geopark will be more charming.

Climate change is one of the ten topics within UNESCO global geoparks. Each geopark is responsible for geoheritage and natural environment protection and should be educators on current climate change. Geoparks should also make contributions to the sustainable development goals.

One staff said that planting trees around where we live and work is very meaningful and after several years, all these small trees will grow into big ones. By tree planting activities, environmental protection awareness was greatly enhanced among geopark employees. They realized the importance of building geoparks and maintaining ecological balance.
