Yunnan Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision organized some experts to carry out evaluation on Shilin Geopark service industry standardization projects on April 9, 2016 based on Comments on Promoting Service Standardization Pilot Area, Implementation Details on Service industry standardization and Operating Instructions on Service industry Standardization. Shilin scored 92.5 altogether in documents, on-site inspections and visitor satisfaction survey, and passed this assessment. The experts agreed that the practice and effect of the Shilin global geopark service standardization pilot project had played a significant role and set a good example for other service organizations.
Shilin global geopark service standardization pilot project started in August 2014 and now 406 standardization systems have been put into practice in the entire process of tourism services and management including 72 national standards, 21 industry standards, 10 local standards and 303 corporate standards.
As one of the first batch of China’s national tourism standardization pilot units, Shilin global geopark always stick to the "standardized management, brand development," standardized management principles; follow standardization ideas of "Let standards become habits, and let habits meet the standards." Shilin global geopark carry out lots of trainings for the park staff to increase their capability
During that period, Shilin global geopark won many rewards as follows: "China's most beautiful tourism list 2014 ", "Chinese national eco-tourism demonstration zone " by the Ministry of Housing and Urban construction of People's Republic of China and "The Second Yunnan Provincial People's Government Quality Award". In 2015 Shilin global geopark received 4 million visitors and tourism direct revenue exceeded 700 million yuan, which greatly boost local economy.
