On March 17, Yunnan Stone Forest Scenic Area Management Bureau and Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark Management Committee of Vietnam held a symposium in International Conference Room of Stone Forest Visitor Center. Both parties entered into the Memorandum for Establishing the Relation of Sister Geoparks between Yunnan Stone Forest World Geopark of China and Ha Giang Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark of Vietnam, and they will establish cooperation partnership.

Ha Giang is located on the border of China and Vietnam, bordered on Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Both Ha Giang Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark and Stone Forest World Geopark are typical representatives of the limestone landform in the world. With typical historical relics and natural phenomena of the epigeosphere, they have great scientific value and attractive landscapes.

On the symposium, both parties had extensive communication on the protection and management mode of geoparks, information and resource sharing, personnel exchange and training and tourism publicity and marketing. In the memorandum entered into, both parties indicated that from this year, both parties will support each other in terms of information exchange, international communication, management experience sharing and sustainable development, and will publicize the advantages and potential of both geoparks to the tourists and people of both countries in various business invitation and capital introduction and marketing activities via such modern media as magazine, network and video. The relation of sister geoparks between both parties will play an active role in promoting the conservation and development of the scenic areas as well as improving the communication and cooperation between both parties, especially in publicity and marketing of tourism development. The signing ceremony for formal cooperation agreement on the relationship of sister geoparks between both parties will be held another day.   

Related officials of Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province, Kunming City and Wenshan Prefecture were present at the symposium.
