On August 2, when night came, the trucks loaded with core barrel of hot-air balloons and fire-throwing devices drives slowly along the landscape avenue of Stone Forest with a dazzling “fire dragon” jetted. Subsequently, the “light show” drives to Shilin County National Stadium slowly, leading the audience present to share a feast of music integrating light show, rock’n’roll and hot-air-balloons.

“Viewing the scenery others cannot see at the height other cannot reach. When we look down at Stone Forest, it is so beautiful and true”. When all the five hot-air balloons rose to the air, the audience on the spectator stand seethed with excitement with the rock music. Screaming and whistling rose one after another. With the aftertaste of the Torch Festival, the atmosphere at the scene was heated once again. It was especially unforgettable that a hot-air balloon in the shape of a panda of simple and naive look waved hand to the audience continuously in the evening breeze. The kids cried that “Kung Fu Panda” came to Stone Forest.

It is known that the first balloon festival ofYunnan is a new tourism program of Yunnan organized by Yunnan Newspaper Media Group and Stone Forest Scenic Area Management Bureau, and undertaken by Yunnan Stone Forest Tourism Group Co., ltd. and Yunnan Newspaper Media Group Educational Information Development Co., Ltd. The purpose of the event is to fully excavate the advantage of tourism in Stone Forest under the background of tourism transformation in Yunnan, to enable the tourists to join, experience and interact by introducing new tourism industry, thus to change the single sightseeing and entrance ticket system of tourism. In this way, Stone Forest will be changed from a “transit station” to a “clustering place”.
